OUR HISTORY

Despite our company’s relatively short history, we continually set industry benchmarks with our innovative products and uncompromising commitment to customer satisfaction.

From start-up Distributor to global Manufacturer

In 1999, not long after the acquisition of his previous company, Paul Anthony Hackett began a relationship with Swedish manufacturer, Emotron AB. A new partnership was formed, whereby Emotron Inc. - a majority-owned subsidiary of Emotron AB - would become the master distributor for Emotron AB in the North American market. This new operation was located in Toledo, Ohio and would focus on the sale of Emotron’s variable frequency drives, soft starters, and power monitor products into various industrial markets. Several years later, Emotron Inc. would become independently owned, after Paul Hackett purchased the company from Emotron AB.

In 2008, the United States government passed the Virginia Graeme Baker Act (VGBA), which required commercial pool operators to follow a strict set of guidelines in order to prevent the dangers of pool drain entrapment. This much needed new law presented an opportunity for Emotron Inc. to use an existing solution to solve a different kind of problem. Using the Emotron M20 power monitor as the brains of the system, the PSP20 anti-entrapment device was born! When a swimmer became entrapped on the pool drain, the PSP20 would detect a change in motor load, shut the motor down, and release the swimmer.

The company used the success of the PSP20 as a springboard, harnessing its newfound respect within the pool and spa industry to drive the company to new heights. The decision was taken to rebrand as H2flow Controls in 2009, signifying a commitment to the company’s continued growth within the swimming pool industry and its steadfast desire to build it’s own brand and products.

2012 became a pivotal year in the history of H2flow Controls, as the company launched what would ultimately become an immensely successful product; the FlowVis flow meter. Today, FlowVis is known by industry professionals as a product that is both ingenious in concept and simple in operation. Yet, despite hundreds-of-thousand of units being sold and the many awards received, modifications, improvements and additions to the FlowVis product line continue to take place. This is a testament to the mindset at H2flow Controls; improving and innovating are the keys to our progress.

In 2021, Paul Hackett relinquished his duties as CEO, and his son, Gavin Hackett, became President of the company. Paul Hackett retains his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors, and continues to serve the company in an advisory role. H2flow Controls continues to be a privately-held, family operated business with a new generation of management that is well positioned to meet the challenges of the future and continue the growth that has been experienced in recent years.
